Full Quarterly Contract Award Compliance
The Office of the Contractor General reports this month that public bodies have been 100% compliant in filing their quarterly contract awards (QCAs) for the 2010 fiscal year. This marks the sixth consecutive quarter of full cooperation, according to the OCG. This full adherence to QCA regulations is the result of the the OCG’s zero tolerance policy.
There was only a 13% compliance a the time the zero-tolerance policy was put in place rate in 2006. Contractor General Greg Christie urged public servants to continue on the path to cleaning up the contracting process and restoring that system to a a place of high esteem in the public eye.
Christie says the 197 procuring public offices had “consistently complied with the reporting requirements of the OCG,” and had “ helped to lay the foundation for a new culture of discipline and professionalism in...Jamaica.” All 197 public bodies’ contract activities are being monitored by the OCG.
The OCG cited a record 11,800 reported Government contracts – all exceeding $275,000 – totalling more than $88billion were awarded or recommended for 2009. The specifics of the QCA’s of 40,682 contracts amounting to $46.5 billion (awarded between May1 2006 and July 31, 2010) ranging from $250,000 to $10 million may be accessed at the OCG website at www.ocg.gov.jm.
